Soccer

Lauren had her first extra-curricular activity last night, staying for football practice (ironically this was provided by a company that referred to it as soccer).  I grew increasingly nervous beforehand as more and more boys trailed in, but eventually 3 other girls appeared.  We got her kitted out with long socks and shinguards, and a promise of boots if she likes it.

She had a lot of fun, being careful to run after the ball while stepping gracefully aside if it actually came near here.  We only got to see half the session, but she didn’t kick the ball while we were there (though she had an excellent throw-in).  Later on we went for a kick-around on the nearby field, and she showed me how she’d been taught to kick the ball with the side of her foot.  I was impressed, even though the way she did it resembled a golf swing more than a kick.
