Waterpark
We have a membership to our local waterpark that we’ve used a couple of times since the family got back (not me though, due to work commitments). Sam is adapting to it; his first ime there he didn’t want to touch the water, so as you lowered him towards it his legs would rise up away from it. Last time he walked in just fine, and would crouch down, but not actually sit.
Lauren is much more at ease, particularly as one of her friends is there at times. She’s also very eager for me to go (tonight, barring thunderstorms). She was describing it to me and said “I expect somebody will want to play with me”. I find this kind of comment…distressing. I have no reason to doubt her ability to make friends, and she’s certainly better than me at it (within her limited experience). But I have no way to show her what to do, and the feeling that I can’t protect her from disappointment is horrible. I know this is not the only area in which she will have to find her own way, but that doesn’t make it easier.
