Challenge

One of the things that Lauren is currently struggling with, and which I am hopelessly ill-equipped to help her with, is making friends. She is very popular at school, and is certainly a likeable person, but has something of a tendency to follow others that I think makes it hard for her to initiate a conversation. While camping she told me several times that she wanted someone to be her friend. At one point she saw a little girl and told me that she’d like to play with her. I told her that she should go up to the girl and say Hi. She replied “But she might not say Hi back to me”. I have no idea how to hold my little one close enough to make that go away.
