Biking

Busy weekend. On Friday I finished late to attend a Father’s day event at school. We had hot dogs and cookies (guess which one the kids remembered), and I got a card from Lauren. Strangely it listed one of my hobbies as ‘soccerball’.

Friday was also bike day at school, and seeing that Lauren’s contemporaries are able to use larger bikes now prompted us to hit the shops. So now Lauren is the proud owner of one of these. Having tried a black one that they had in the shop, we gave her the choice of a black or red one. She said red, so I told her that she would have to wait for a week (they didn’t have the red in stock). She immediately said “I would really like the black one please.”

On Sunday we went out for breakfast as what I hope to establish as a Father’s day tradition. In the afternoon we met up with Toby and parents for a picnic. We (Claire and I) cycled there towing the kids. Sam rode in a seat on the back of my bike, while Lauren luxuriated in a trailer all to herself. It was a bit hard on Claire (before now I’ve towed them both), but we managed to get there and back just fine, and the kids seemed to enjoy it.
