Recital

Lauren has been attending a creative movement class after school on Tuesdays, and last night they had a small performance for parents where they demonstrated some of the things they do. It wasn’t the most organized session, largely because of the distraction the parents provided, but it was interesting to see, and very touching to see how much Lauren enjoys it. I was also struck by how big she is; in the last few weeks she seems to have become a young lady rather than just a big girl (I know, she’s only 5, but that’s how it seems), and that was reflected by the lead she took during the session.

Sam came along too, and was very attentive for almost the entire half hour, which for a 3 year old was very impressive. He wasn’t old enough to sign up, but I think he would have liked the class too (and could have shown off his capering monkey dance).

After the performance we went to the school’s open house, where Lauren and Sam took turns showing us some of the work they do. Lauren started by reading a book, which I think she had partially memorized judging by the pace she worked through it, and also demonstrated a math game. Then Sam showed us a couple of things, including his favourite bit (‘cookie work’), but was more focussed on getting us out of his space and back home.
