Fireworks and Kidding

Last night we went to see the fireworks.  They kick off around 10pm (one of the disadvantages of declaring independence in the middle of summer) so the kids were pretty tired.  This was best demonstrated by Sam, who for the second year running managed to see the first 10 minutes of the loud, flashy fireworks before falling asleep.  Lauren and I, in the meantime, were sat inside so that we could watch quiet, flashy fireworks.

Earlier in the week we went to the garage to sell the car.  As we were pulling away Lauren, who normally straps herself in now, said “Daddy, are you KIDDING me?!  I’m not even strapped in yet!”  She picked up on the fact that we were laughing, and thought it was at her (which it was), but we told her we’d seen a funny car and she seemed to accept that.
