Moral Dilemmas

I’m currently struggling to decide how to handle a teaching problem at Lauren’s school.  The RE curriculum for the next two terms is “People Jesus Met” and “Easter”.  Now I’m very keen that she study RE, as whatever the truth behind religions they are an enormous driving force in the world.  But there’s a difference between religious education and Christian education, and it looks like the latter is what the school is concentrating on.

My concerns in this area have been put on hold, however, to deal with a far more sinister and corrupting influence coming from school.  Last night Lauren sang a fragment of song that went roughly “She’s a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world.”  Opening a securely locked door in my mind revealed that she was referring to Barbie Girl by Aqua.  It turns out they were playing it at the school disco, and frankly that’s just wrong.
