Achievement

Lauren has been promoted to the red hat class at swimming.  I think the entry criteria is that you don’t have to stop swimming every time you need to take a breath.

Claire also went to Lauren’s termly review meeting thingy with the teacher.  The best news we had is that she’s really come out of her shell at school, though they might need to turn that down just a notch as she’s having trouble sitting still during story time.  The  County/Government require teachers to maintain a list of  ‘gifted’ pupils in both Maths and English, which basically means the top 3 kids in each subject in each class.  Lauren is on the list for both, which we’re not making a big deal of because she currently has more confidence than she does empathy for classmates.  The teacher made the point that it’s a variable thing depending on who is top 3, though she also pointed out the stupidity of that – if your child is gifted they’re gifted, not gifted this week and above average next week.
