Lots happened in the last week…
Sam had his first swimming lesson, which went well. At his second lesson yesterday he was clearly struggling, but the key thing is that he continued on, rather than just hopping from one side of the pool to the other.
Sam also had his first Ju-Jitsu lesson. It was rather unsettling, as he looked so small (he’s possibly the youngest in the class, though not by much). It was also clear that we should have explained the concept a little more – I’d given my standard speech about listening and doing as you’re told, but he was somewhat bemused by the idea of hitting someone. So before the next lesson we’ll have a talk about contexts. We’ll also practice doing forward rolls, which it turns out he can’t do (but it was great fun watching him talk through the concept with his instructor – very analytical). Oh, and now Lauren’s interested, maybe.
Finally, Lauren went to the doctor because of a lump on her wrist that appears to be a ganglion (basically a lump caused by fluid leaking from a joint). She got it while demonstrating her genetic inheritance on rollerskates (fell within seconds). The doc says if it hasn’t cleared itself in a couple of months we should take her back.
