Busy Weekend
We went to a friend’s wedding on Saturday, including the works (church wedding, old cars, hotel reception). It was a pretty awesome event, with everything hitting the right mixture of fun and elegant (except one or two of the speeches maybe!) The kids had a great time – parts were a little dull for them, of course, but they made a couple of friends, ate lots, and generally enjoyed themselves. They were going strong until about 10pm, when Sam walked up to Claire and said “I’m really tired” so we left before any meltdowns.
On Sunday morning we went to Pompey to finish off our tour of the Historic Dockyards. The Mary Rose was absolutely fantastic, and not at all what I’d expected for some reason. We also went to ‘Action Stations’, which is the interactive section. Lauren and I went on a rolling climbing wall, where she did surprisingly well for an ‘ickle ‘un. We even managed to get in a little shopping for everyone at Gunwharf Keys, thanks to a new rucksack for each of them plus the judicious application of burgers and ice cream.
